Longmont is a quaint city with an all inclusive feel. Although most cities on the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains seem to blur together, Longmont is set apart by the surrounding open space. Any where someone might need to go in Longmont can be reached in about 10 minutes of driving from where they are currently located. The city has a robust main street with locally owned bakeries and ice cream shops. My favorite bakery is Aimes Love Gluten Free Bakery which is on Main Street between Third Avenue and Fourth Avenue. My favorite treat to eat at Aimes Love Gluten Free Bakery is their Smutter Cinnamon Roll, made with marshmallows and Nutella. It is full of chocolate gooey goodness.

In Longmont, residents are allowed to raise chickens in their backyard. The main regulations include a limit to four hens and no roosters. The chickens must not be housed between the rear of the home structure and the front property line. Residents must also obtain permission from any neighbor with whom they share a fence, if they intend to raise free range chickens. No permission is needed for a chicken run. Longmont is one of the few towns in Colorado that has maintained its original charm and has not been over built with the influx of population since the 1980’s.

Longmont is a small city located northeast of Boulder. It offers short commutes to both Boulder and Denver, but is much more than a bedroom community. The thriving downtown often hosts festivals and outdoor events, there is a growing artist population, and parks and trails are conveniently located close to neighborhoods. With Rocky Mountain National Park only 30 minutes away, local breweries offering drinks and food, and several shopping and entertainment districts, Longmont has something for everyone.

Longmont is a very cute and quaint little town. It is about 40 minutes from the Rocky Mountains, giving residents great views of beautiful landscapes. It is close to Boulder and about an hour from Denver, so all the perks of living in a big city are still accessible. Longmont itself is full of small attractions and day activities, perfect for anyone looking for a relaxing lifestyle.

Longmont was declared the nation’s boomtown this year because of its rapid growth. It was also noted that Longmont was the fastest growing city in the country last year. It has lost some of its small-town charms with the influx of people, cars, and traffic. The close proximity of Longmont to Boulder is part of the problem with growth.

Longmont is a beautiful town. There are many kinds of trees here, and the view of the mountains is certainly incredible. However, it is a growing town. If someone looks to live in a small, close-knit community, they should reconsider moving here. With the legalization of marijuana in Colorado, Longmont has grown larger than planned.
