When moving to Baton Rouge, LA, one should know the people are lively, the culture is rich, and the food is unlike anything you’ll find anywhere else. The colorful history of this deep south city makes for a fun getaway or charming place to call home.

HELPFUL REPORT

Baton rouge is a slow paced city. Many of the people here related or know each other. There is not a lot of activity for younger people, however there is a lot of history that can be learned by visiting the local museums. For anyone who has an interest in the food industry there is a large variety of restaurants in the city.

In August of 2016, what most Louisiana residents assumed was a typical summer thunderstorm lead to an extremely rare, tragic event that Baton Rouge had never seen in its history. Severe rain stalled over Baton Rouge and the surrounding areas for almost three days straight, leading to what many meteorologists called the “100 Year Flood.” Torrential, incessant rainfall inundated the city’s drainage systems, which were simply not prepared nor designed to handle rainfall of this magnitude. As a result, 1,000s lost their homes.
