Sapele is a suburban town. Common businesses include boutiques, restaurants, beer parlors, hotels and general markets. It is bounded by the Ethiope river and has two power stations supplying electricity to locations outside the town. The residents are nosy, love to party and have little regard for education but prefer quick money and exuberant lifestyles. The town of the Okpe tribe and known for their alcohol called Sapele Water (Ogogoro).

Sapele is a cosmopolitan city. It is inhabited by people from different ethnic groups. Thus, it is a non-discriminatory society. The major tourism attraction in the city is the Ethiope River. Its source is from under a tree, which is worshipped by the locals. A popular defunct company in the town is the African Timber and Plywood. The city was chosen for the siting of this company because of the abundance of mahogany and other forest trees in the outskirt of the city.
