Sapele is a cosmopolitan city. It is inhabited by people from different ethnic groups. Thus, it is a non-discriminatory society. The major tourism attraction in the city is the Ethiope River. Its source is from under a tree, which is worshipped by the locals. A popular defunct company in the town is the African Timber and Plywood. The city was chosen for the siting of this company because of the abundance of mahogany and other forest trees in the outskirt of the city.
