Is Tallahassee boring? Is it fun? How do people relax in their free time? From playing and watching live sports to listening to live music to volunteering, here's what four local experts had to say about things to do in Tallahassee, Florida.

That Tallahassee is the capital leads to the simple tourist interests — Capitol building, Florida history museum, historic government sites. But if you look deeper, you will see the culture underneath fed by three great colleges and residents. Talented local theaters, music of all types in bars/cafes, local art galleries/shops, and, of course, a growing variety of cultural restaurants for anybody’s taste buds!

HELPFUL REPORT

Unlike most cities in Florida, Tallahassee possesses rolling hills. The climate is similar to that of Georgia, with short, colder winters, while still possessing the long, hot summers characteristic of Florida. The social scene is populated by college students, with more than three universities in the area. Restaurants, clubs, shops, and libraries dot the landscape, holding opportunities for singles, couples, and families, young and old.

Summers are hot and humid. However, in the Autumn it cools down and temperatures are mild to cool until mid-spring. There are two major universities in Tallahassee as well a a community college and vocational/technical school. It is also the State Capitol. Tallahassee has a diverse population and that diversity is celebrated in city-wide festivals.

Someone moving to Tallahassee should know the intense humidity, abundance of traffic, and unpredictable weather. Being the capital of the state, and home to the Florida State University, Tallahassee a hub of mixed culture and community. The bar scene, especially near campus, is raucous but incredibly enjoyable nonetheless, and the nearby nature trails and parks are perfect spots to decompress and enjoy the outdoors.
