A great part about the town is the local park district. The park district has two baseball diamonds that are always kept in great shape. There is also a swimming pool that brings people from all around to swim during the summer. On the Fourth of July there is a firework show at the park. The Galva Freedom Fest Organization puts in a lot of hard work throughout the year to raise money for the firework show. They bring in all kinds of vendors and food trucks. The show is free to the public, they just ask for donations.

Galva has the Backroads Music Festival, a country music festival that takes place in early August every year. It has brought musicians to Galva including Jon Pardi, Travis Tritt, Rodney Atkins and many more. The festival brings people from all over the Midwest. Galva is small enough where you can pretty much get to know everyone, but it is not too small to the point where there is nothing to do. The town is a quick hour and a half train ride from Chicago, and about an hour drive from Peoria, Illinois. There are lots of great places to go within an easy driving distance.
