Anyone considering moving to Derby should not expect luxurious buildings nor grand landmarks. What they’ll find is generous people, comforting food and friendly neighbors. However, it’s The Peak District that is the true gem of Derby. Boasting rolling hills, deep caverns and extensive woodland, it shows the beauty England has to offer.

Derby is a cathedral city located on the river Derwent in the very centre of the United Kingdom. There are many interesting places to visit where you can learn about the local culture and heritage. For example, the museum has an ancient viking ship on display that was buried and preserved in a muddy riverbed, the Old Silk Mill has engineering exhibits from the famous Derby-based manufacturer Rolls Royce, and if you are feeling brave you can take part in a guided ghost walk around the city at night.

Derby is a vibrant, bustling city with lots of activities to keep whomever visits busy and entertained. There are plenty of multi-storey car parks, although finding a space for one’s car can be rather difficult during peak times. The people in Derby city are friendly and welcoming to tourists, and are more than willing to help point one in the correct direction for a tasty meal or refreshing beverage.
