Spokane is a beautiful city, full of bright lights and people. The community is extremely friendly and always wanting to help. From hiking to shopping, there is a large variety of activities. Basketball is important to our community as the Gonzaga basketball has been involved in March Madness for several years.
Although this is a beautiful city, we have a high rate of drug abuse, prostitution, and homelessness. We are working to combat these issues. We are home to ‘Hoopfest’, the world’s largest three on three basketball tournament. There are many outdoor recreational activities to enjoy such as hiking, biking and river rafting.
If you’re moving to Spokane, you need to be prepared to commute to work. Spokane is tied with Tacoma as the second biggest city in Washington, and though many jobs exist, they’re centralized in locations far from most housing. Also, invest in hiking boots! There are plenty of hiking trails and parks surrounding Spokane Valley. Taking your time to get out in nature and explore the scenery is a fantastic way to escape the hustle and bustle of the city itself.
