Love walking on a beach all to yourself? What about walking in nature exploring the historical mysteries of the land, finding secret beaches to surf or stunning swim under waterfalls? If so, then Opotiki is the place for you. Sprawling beaches, bluey-green rivers, Bike trails that take you all around the town, beaches, rivers & bush -trails. Opotiki is the gateway to the east coast of New Zealand. An ideal place to raise a family, or retire. The locals, are friendly and helpful, and a real tight-knit community, steeped in Maori culture, the local iwi is called Whakatohea. There is a real melting pot of ethnicities that come to build a life in Opotiki, and real estate is booming at present. Country living is also a big thing here weather it’s dairy farming or dry-stock, there’s plenty of lush green grass, cool running rivers and mountains of bushland to explore or hunt a wild pig or deer to stock up your freezer, if that’s your thing. Opotiki truly is paradise on earth.
