From dinosaurs to explorers to wars, here's what two local experts had to say about the history of Riyadh.

Riyadh is a wonderful city with lots of busy people racing to live their own lives peacefully. The city is surrounded by huge buildings and you never know what you can find if you try moving deeper into the city. The city has many historical sights and every time I visit those places, they fascinate me to think that a country, filled with sand has turned into such an amazing city filled with people and joy.

Riyadh is the political and administrative centre of Saudi Arabia and is the headquarters of the country’s central government bodies, such as the Saudi Royal Court and the Council of Ministers of Saudi Arabia. Riyadh is of great economic importance, as it is the headquarters of many banks and major companies. It is also the location of the King Abdullah Financial District, one of the world’s largest financial centers. Riyadh is one of the world’s fastest-growing cities in population, with many immigrants.
