Beijing is just like most major cities around the world. It is very modern and clean, and full of interesting tourist sites to visit. Although the language barrier can be a difficult challenge to overcome, an inability to speak Chinese should not stop anyone from touring the city. Additionally, the Chinese people are very kind, welcoming people.
When moving to Beijing, it is crucial to familiarize yourself with the local culture. Not only the local customs but also the language, as English is not commonly used. Beijing offers fantastic and affordable Mandarin schools for foreigners where you can learn the language and get a proper introduction to the culture and traditions of China. Once you have a basic understanding of these, you will find your time in Beijing to be one of the most enjoyable and memorable of your life.
