Cincinnati has a lot to offer. It’s got loads of history (founded in 1788), culture (excellent art museums, a World-Class Symphony, major league sports teams, global cuisine), and the cost of living is amongst the lowest in the country for a major city of 1 million+ people. But it doesn’t feel that big, with distinctive neighborhoods and two major interstates that making commuting less of a hassle than a lot of other cities where I’ve lived or visited. I’m not from here, and would happily stay for life, but I love cold, snowy winters, but we don’t get a whole lot of them here.

Cincinnati is not a very walkable city, and unfortunately, the public transportation system is severely lacking. I would recommend living near the city center, as there is no shortage of quality restaurants and fun activities for the family.

Cincinnati is best viewed as a group of neighborhoods instead of as an homogeneous mass. The neighborhood that you choose to live in will greatly affect your experiences as a resident. Neighborhoods like Northside or OTR are walkable and filled with small, locally-owned businesses. Neighborhoods like Anderson are more suburban in character and great for families looking for a well-run school system.

Before moving to Cincinnati, one should be appreciative of beauty. There are nine iconic museums, including one inside the historical Union Terminal. One could spend weeks becoming acquainted with the art and history hidden behind these walls. There are several botanical gardens within the city limits, namely the Krohn Conservatory.
