Nature is La Crescenta’s next door neighbor, with waterfall hikes and a beautiful botanical garden bringing in people from cities all over. Hollywood is a twenty minute drive. JPL is a couple blocks down. La Crescenta provides an opportunity to see a personal side in impersonal aspects of a normal city. From going to get a frappe at Starbucks to turning over organic fruit at the weekly farmers market, mindless small talk turns into meaningful, long-lasting relationships. The hospital in town is USC Verdugo Hills Hospital.

Montrose is the “downtown” of La Crescenta. A street lined with diverse, ethnic restaurants and shops catered for every age and interest, there is an abundance of activities to do with friends and family. Montrose is a place reminiscent of Hollywood, as many tv shows and movies have been filmed at this very street — “Glee”, “Parks and Recreation”, and “Grey’s Anatomy” to name a few. Celebrities come to enjoy the peace of mind that the town offers, and away from the hectic hustle and bustle city life.

Legend has it that the man who named the town based it off three crescents, mountain peaks, that he could see from outside his window. It was perfect for a health resort, scenic and peaceful, but instead a small town came to fruition bearing no spa, but a tight knit community of hardworking individuals with a dream — La Crescenta. It is a suburban town of Los Angeles basks in the sun all year long, confusing even the plants on what season it is. While walking along the streets lined with lush grass and prominent trees, the history of this town flaunts itself, with the architecture of houses and shops taking a visitor back in time to the 90’s.
