Lawrence, Kansas, holds a great deal of history, stretching as far back as the Civil War era. Though the town isn’t large like the nearby metropolis Kansas City, it has steadily grown throughout the years as more families move in to settle down. Lawrence is also known for its college the University of Kansas, college basketball, fictional mascot, the Jayhawk. All over Lawrence, you’ll find that smiling blue and red bird in every shop window, car bumper, and t-shirt. You may even find giant sculptures dedicated to this famous mascot.

Some people are apprehensive of Lawrence, Kansas, because of the “party school” stereotype surrounding the University of Kansas. However, I like to argue that Lawrence is a beautiful little town despite hustle and bustle of the large school within it. When people walk down Massachusetts street, a long street filled with quirky shops and eateries, they are quickly converted to the Lawrence state of mind.
