Oujda is a city in the northeast of Morocco. It is the capital of the Oujda-Angad prefecture, in the Oriental region. Its proximity to the port of Nador, another major city in the Orient, and to Algeria allows it to be a crossing point between Morocco and Algeria. The city has a population of 410,000, according to the last general population census in 2014, making it the 10th largest city in Morocco. Oujda was founded by Ziri Ibn Attia, around 994 in the centre of the plain of Angad.
