Zaria, just like most Northern cities in Nigeria, is dominated by the Hausa ethnic group. The naive tongue is the Hausa language, but English is widely spoken. I advise anyone moving here to be prepared to experience extreme cold from northern desert winds, during the Harmattan season.

The first thing they’ll have to know about this city is that it is dominated by the Hausa tribe. As a result, they will have to make necessary efforts to understand the predominant language and culture. Also, the city is a home to many academic institutions, including the Ahmadu Bello University. This, therefore, means that most of the business activities are geared towards meeting the needs of students. As such the town is usually less productive during their holiday seasons.

It’s a large city with well-planned roads thus, transportation is very good. The crime rate here, is relatively low. Costs of living is moderately high but large number of vacancies are available. It is a very noisy city and can be a disturbance to you. The schools are mostly private with few government schools, both who teach well.

Anyone moving to Zaria, must have an idea of the local dialect, which is Hausa language. Also, he/she must be okay with traveling in tricycles and motorcycles. He/she must also be able to survive living in harsh conditions like little or no electricity, no WiFi, and subpar water supply.

It has a low cost of living, a lot of food items can be obtained at affordable prices. There are plenty educational institutions available for those who want to school. It’s a very peaceful place with a low crime rate. And it is home to a lot of historical places like the old Zazzau empire over which the great Queen Amina ruled.

Be very careful there are people who kidnap other people. We have good food. People are always friendly to outsiders and foreigners. Some of the streets are dirty and the roads are bumpy. This is also a military town and some of them are wicked.

Zaria is in Kaduna state, north western Nigeria and known as the centre of learning. It is very conducive for learning and research with credible facilities. Zaria is very peaceful with talents and people of kind hearts. The city is known for its tendency to reward hard work.

know about the harsh and at times unfavourable weather in the city. The city is a very nice place with many adventures. it has many zoo and entertainment centers for recreation. I specifically want anybody moving here to be very mindful and get prepared for the weather.
