Summers are hot and winters are cold. people are friendly and help when needed. Reasonable cost of living.

We have great food, ethnic choices. We love our neighbors as ourselves❤️

Cars are definitely a must-have. Given the heaviness of snowfall every winter as well as the long gaps in the arrival of busses, a person needs to have his/her own vehicle in order to protect himself/herself from the cold winter winds and to save time waiting for the bus and for travel time to be shorter.

Of the many things someone considering moving to Winnipeg must know, perhaps the most important is the sheer range of temperature we experience here. One must be prepared to encounter temperatures ranging from 30 degrees below zero in the winter to extremes nearing 40 degrees celsius in the height of summer. Depending on when one arrives, it may seem like Winnipeg is a location where you may never experience comfort in recreating outdoors. Rest assured, however, that when autumn comes around you will come to understand the beauty of life in this prairie town.

Winnipeg gets really cold in winter and can be very hot in summer. You might even enjoy strolling along the Red River during your visit to The Forks. I enjoy the zoo because of all the animals, especially the Red Panda exhibit. The friendly people in my city will make the move worthwhile.

Winnipeg is one of the coldest city in Canada. Mostly, you will be seeing great plains and lakes everywhere. Though the city is one of the coldest, you can experience sunshine at least 70% of your time here. Winters are cold but summers are hot. Winnipeg is a “rural” city when compared to bigger cities in Canada. The population is not quite as large but very diversified.

Winters in Winnipeg will be one of the most frustrating parts of your daily life should you decide to make this city your new home. By the end of your first winter, you will be an expert at maneuvering your body from point A to B with five layers of clothing. Despite sixth months’ worth of experience, you will still struggle to avoid slipping on thin sheets of ice, which are particularly tough to spot on sidewalks. The uncoordinated will have a difficult time. Learn to fall on your butt, as my mishaps taught me in the last ten years. Even worse than walking around the city is driving, particularly around the suburbs. The roads transform into a beautiful skating rink, which your car will enjoy but you as a driver will despise and never be accustomed to. The roads in Winnipeg are mostly flat, as if that is some form of consolation. As a driver, you must learn the art of simply allowing your car to drift on ice and to ever so carefully (and gradually) press on your pedals – gas or brakes.

You need to be aware and prepared for the extremes in the weather; hot and humid summers in contrast to dry and frigid winters. between summers and winters lays the few weeks of a “sweet spot”. Take advantage of those weeks to get outside and explore the culture and history, especially the downtown Exchange district and Forks Marketplace. Conveniently, there’s even a free bus or modified trolly that will take you between both sites and through other parts of downtown.

Residents of Winnipeg have a love-hate relationship with the city. It is too cold in winter, too hot in summer, and the public transit system is awful. At the same time, Winnipeg is a hotbed for culture, hosting countless festivals, concerts, and sporting events throughout the year. It feels like both a bustling metropolitan city and a small-prairie town where everyone knows each other simultaneously.

We have very cold winter and extremely hot summers. It would be important to consider that you will like long winters and short summers. One of the highlights of Winnipeg is a two week long multicultural festival called Folklorama. Many countries around the world are represented with dancing and delicious food. Winnipeg has many great communities, groups and features, that many families long to be apart of. However, the natural elements of this Canadian city often prove too daunting to prospective home buyers. The frigid winters, the mosquito driven springs and the dry summers tend to overwhelm the potential families who may be coming from a milder climate. In order to survive and thrive in a climate such as this, one must be able to adapt and thicken their skin, to enjoy the offers of Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Winnipeg is a dense city with two extreme seasons. If you wish to succeed in a city like this one, you will need to be ready to endure a long and harsh winter and then an overbearingly hot summer. The city itself is well equipped to deal with these two extremes and will only ask of you to be ready with appropriate attire.
