Windham is a small bedroom community of Portland. Surrounded by several lakes and ponds, it is comprised of a subdivisions separated by dense forest. Most residents are middle-class, but there are a variety of income groups represented throughout the town, from the working-class neighborhoods of South Windham to the affluent lakeside estates. North Windham is the primary shopping district, offering a several strip malls and box stores.
