Random City

Verona, PA, is a small town outside Pittsburgh, near the comparatively larger suburb of Penn Hills. It takes its name from the more famous Verona, Italy, because it was incorporated after a large influx of Italian-American immigrants to the Pittsburgh area in the early 1900s. Because it borders the Allegheny River, Verona was once bustling with manufacturing and shipping work, and in fact still has a large train station used for loading cargo onto freight trains using the Pennsylvania Railroad. In the past several decades, as in much of the rust belt, manufacturing and shipping have waned around Pittsburgh; however, Verona remains very much alive and well because of commerce, business, and a strong sense of community.
