This is a relaxed yet progressive university town that enjoys delicious restaurants, a plethora of outdoor activities including hikes and springs within 1-2 hours away, and many local vendors. It is a great place to enjoy the perks of having a large university with some of the top schools (veterinary, medical, etc) but also have the feel of a smaller town as compared to Tampa or Orlando.

Learn about the gators. Both the reptilian ones and the college ones 😉 Own a kayak, the area springs are the best natural attraction.

Gainesville, Florida, is a sleepy college town. However, you should be prepared for blisteringly hot weather during summer. Do you love collegiate sports? If so, the roar of the crowd in the “The Swamp” on muggy Saturdays in fall might entice you to don an orange and blue t-shirt and begin chanting “Go Gators! “

Gainesville is a very open-minded community. Everyone is welcome and there is very little discrimination, if any. The parks are beautiful and residents always try to help each other out. If you’re looking for a place you will feel safe living in, Gainesville is the right place to go.

Someone moving to Gainesville, Florida should know it is the location of one of the largest public universities in the United States. The large number of students living here has a seasonal effect on traffic and on the type of entertainment available. Some locals joke that the most popular religion here is college football. Gator football games wreak havoc on traffic and events around town.

A city known for its vibrant nightlife and charming streets, Gainesville is a quaint city in north Florida that is worth anyone’s time. The city is home to the University of Florida, which lends to its reputation as a haven for entertainment with its endless bars and dance clubs. However, even if an individual is not inclined towards the night scene as the average college student, Gainesville still has plenty to offer. It can appeal to those who love to spend time in nature, due in part to its close proximity to a large prairie reserve and a natural spring area. No matter who you are or what you like, there is always something for you to do in Gainesville.
