Is Almaty boring? Is it fun? How do people relax in their free time? From playing and watching live sports to listening to live music to volunteering, here's what three local experts had to say about things to do in Almaty.

Mountains, Beshbarmak (dish made of horse meat and dough), beautiful views of the city, very pleasant not hot summer, delicious fruits and berries, a lot of snow in winter, very kind and hospitable people, really multinational, comfortable for living due to available utilities, affordable food, a lot of walking areas and bicycle station to rent bike.

HELPFUL REPORT

Almaty has all four seasons of the weather in a year. Being prepared to be ready for extreme snowfall, rain and hot summers. Appropriate clothes would be needed. The city itself is quite big, having a car or knowing how to manage public transport would be very applicable. However, bicycles are available in the city, which can be borrowed. Cafe’s and dining is popular in Almaty.

In Almaty we have beautiful ski resort in mountains where you can ski at winter and go climbing at summer with fresh air. People here is always very friendly and open to tourists. Here we have all four seasons in a year of weather and as we are multinational country you can try cuisines of such countries as Kazakh, Russians, Chines, Caucasian kitchens all in one place.
