Tips for Moving and Visiting

This city may seem like a quiet mountain town at first glance, but there is another side to this seemingly quaint Smoky Mountain city that only the locals are familiar with. Western Carolina University has unknowingly brought life back to this small town, with breweries opening up between the rustic tourist shops and dilapidated old buildings.
Before moving to Sylva, one should realize that it is a small town in a rural area. Employment options are limited, as are shopping and dining opportunities. However, Sylva is in the beautiful Smoky Mountains and has friendly residents. The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is close by, as are many beautiful hiking trails. Sylva’s largest employer is Western North Carolina University.
