St. Augustine is the oldest city in the nation. Settled in 1565 by Ponce de Leon, it has Spanish influence and offers newcomers quite a lot of history. There are always tourists in town: from those visiting the Fountain of Youth and exploring Flagler College and the fort, to those that come just for Nights of Lights, the largest holiday light display on the east coast, which takes place from Thanksgiving through to mid February.

St. Augustine is known for being the oldest city in the United States. It was founded by Spanish explorers in the 1500s. It has a rich tourism-based economy and relies on the money spent each summer by those who wish to learn the city’s great history. It is known as the country’s most haunted city.

Originally founded by Spain, it is full of rich Spanish culture and architecture. Visitors are able to tour St. Augustine Catholic Church, the first church constructed in North America.
