Barry is a wonderful place. It’s on the south coast of Wales, with sweeping views across the sparkling waters of the Bristol Channel towards England and the rolling hills of Dartmoor. Barry has beaches of both golden sand and shining pebbles but if you tire of the sea you can venture inland and sample pints of foaming ale in the many beautiful country pubs nestling in the green fields of the Vale of Glamorgan. Unlike the neighbouring Welsh capital city of Cardiff, it’s also extremely affordable, with 5-bedroom Edwardian townhouses on the market for around £250,000.

It’s a beautiful place. Perks include: the beach, the amusements arcades, open parkland, and stunning sea views. House prices are also very low in the area, making it a very affordable city. We managed to purchase a three-bedroom house (with a very large garden!) for less than half of what it would’ve cost to buy the same property in the next town over.
