Aiea is a suburb on the island of Oahu. Aiea is known for the various cultures, restaurants, a major mall, and the hangout spots around town. One of the major events held in town is the Byodo Festival. It’s a celebration of life and it is a part of the Japanese culture. During this time, there are different food vendors such as rice cakes, mochi, barbecue chicken plates, and so much more. People dress in traditional japanese gowns, and children run around playing with their toys. Sometimes there are dragon dances and traditional drum concerts.

In Aiea, there are also many places to dine in or order take out. The food varies from Chinese to Mexican to Korean, and even Vietnamese. There is a lot of Asian cuisine because a good majority of the population comes from Asian descent or are mixed. Aiea Chop Suey restaurant has authentic Chinese foods at an affordable price. Their steamed buns with char siu will change your life for the better.

One thing that’s unique to Aiea is the Pearlridge Mall. It’s a major gathering place for people of all ages. With a vast variety of stores to shop in, from Hallmark to Hot Topic, there are places for everyone to enjoy. They also have a bouncy castle for the kids. People from all over the island come to shop and eat at Pearlridge. There are also special events held there, such as seeing the Easter Bunny or Santa during those times. It gives families a chance to take pictures and capture the moment while having a fun time.
