As Shelton is only about 14 miles from Olympia Washington, it has become a community that now includes commuters. A historic logging community, Shelton is small with only three larger grocery stores, numerous small businesses and a few fast food chains within its boarders. However, the city has expansion plans in work. For people who like the outdoors, Shelton is a great gateway to the Olympic National Forest and National Park as it is located on HWY 101. It is nicely situated nearly half way between the Bremerton/Kitsap Navy Joint Command traveling North and Joint Base Lewis-McChord traveling East.
There’s everything you could want, stores, restaurants, a hospital, a YMCA, an athletic club, a senior center, and a casino. It’s never too hot or too cold. Some of the nicest people I’ve ever met live here.
Shelton is a small town that is full of interesting people. Currently, there is not much for anyone to do; however, there is a YMCA that is being built and there are plans to build a bowling alley. While there is not a lot to do, there are many gorgeous hiking trails in and around the town.
