Shelby Township, Michigan, is a fairly affluent suburb of Detroit. Shelby Township is a large 36-square-mile jurisdiction with a population of over 50,000. It has many high-quality schools and parks. Within the boundaries of the township lies the city of Utica, a small enclave of just about 5,000 people. The main attraction in Utica is probably Jimmy John’s Field, which hosts the United Shore Professional Baseball League.

Shelby Township is not technically a city; it is a large township with a population of over 50,000. Within the borders of Shelby Township is the small city of Utica, which contains several municipal buildings and shops. Otherwise, the township is mostly decentralized, with commercial establishments lining the main roads and residential areas tucked away between them. Shelby Township is relatively affluent; most of its residents are part of the upper middle-class. If you can afford it, it’s a great place.
