Known for having a strong sense of community and endless opportunities for outdoor activity, San Luis Obispo is a perfect place to raise a family. A morning can be spent hiking one of the many beautiful trails around town, and be followed by an afternoon at the beach playing in the sand. Once named ‘The Happiest City in America’, the town lives up to its name.

When moving to San Luis Obispo (SLO), it is important to consider the size of the town. It was a bit of a culture shock moving from a large city to a small town. The university students make up half of the city’s population. In other words, it might not be the relaxing coastal retirement community one might think it is. Another important fact to note about the large majority of students, is the real estate prices. Properties are in high demand and the sellers know it, so if you’re moving to SLO be prepared to pay a pretty penny in rent or mortgage. If the price of real estate doesn’t deter you, there are many fun activities around SLO: the beach, hiking, boutique shopping, wine tasting, and much more!
