Reisterstown is a large suburb with a small town feel. There is excellent access to job markets in the Baltimore-Washington corridor. Factors that make the area desirable include highly-ranked public schools, low crime rates, and ample recreational opportunities. Reisterstown prides itself on being a welcoming area. There is great diversity in race, socioeconomics, education levels, and religions. Our small town has strong traditions including our annual Fourth of July parade and the end of summer festival. The area has modern conveniences including Starbucks and Chipotle while celebrating longtime businesses on historic Main Street.

Reisterstown is a small, but dense town where everyone knows everyone, which is unique. Even though Reisterstown is predominantly white, the community has a high Hispanic population, and therefore many smaller, family owned Latinx grocery stores, restaurants, and shops. In addition to this, there are other nationalities present on the main street, where plenty of the smaller shops are, including Russian, Indo-European, and Chinese. The diversified community brings a sense of belonging.

Reisterstown Sportsplex has a large indoor facility that holds an ice-skating rink and soccer field. Outdoors, there are baseball and football fields that the local teams play on, as well as playgrounds and places to grill food. It’s a community spot. Reisterstown has local restaurants that aren’t anywhere else. Whether you enjoy Italian, Salvadoran, Greek, Japanese, Chinese, or some Maryland crabs, there is a place. Within walking distance sits a family owned Latinx restaurants called El Paraiso. Everyone there is always warm and welcoming. People also like to gather at Reter’s Crabs for some classic Maryland crabs or crab cakes while catching up with friends and/or watching sports.

Reisterstown is a very friendly city within the Northwest part of Baltimore County. It was established in 1758 by German immigrant John Reister. The most well known schools in Reisterstown are: Franklin High, Franklin Middle, Franklin Elementary, Cedarmere Elementary, Reisterstown Elementary, Timber Grove Elementary, Glyndon Elementary, Hannah More School, and Chatsworth Elementary.

Soldiers Delight Natural Environmental Area is a spot with many nature trails and water, where you’ll find people jogging, walking their dogs, or just strolling. It is protected by the State of Maryland and is a popular place to get away from some of the bustle in the area. The Baltimore Ravens training center is nearby, and it is common to see a Ravens player in casual situations like in the line at Starbucks, driving, in Target, or pumping gas.

Due to Reisterstown’s location, there are also outdoor activities that aren’t far away. The Irvine Nature Center has various nature trails, classrooms, a museum, and a huge green exhibit hall. Families send their children to the summer camp, local schools visit for field trips, and couples even get married here.
