Redruth has relatively high housing costs, but there are few well-paying jobs. Although Redruth benefits from good road links to the whole of West Cornwall, during the tourist season there can be heavy congestion. The town has a insular population, many of whom have long-standing family connections to the area, and are wary of newcomers. Therefore, it can take time to feel integrated into the community.

Redruth is a renowned tin mining town in Cornwall. It’s home to the first gas street lamps which were developed by the inventor William Murdoch in the 1790s. If you buy a house in Redruth, you can expect to have an extended survey carried out to locate any hidden mine shafts.
