If you are moving to Pretoria you need to be prepared to run the rat race. We call Pretoria our home for 30 years now but are prepared to move to somewhere slower. We will miss the beautiful purple Jacarandas in October, our dear friends and kids that want to stay in the city. Lots to do, much to see and very nice weather.

Pretoria is a very busy city with taxis everywhere, it is really not for the faint hearted. We have the presidency office, the Union Buildings that is open to the public and is a great spot for picnics and relaxing. The streets are colorful and the food is scrumptious. Entertainment is on another level, there is so much to do!

They must be aware of thefts when walking around in the main town, other than that my city is a very great city for tourists, hikers, etc. There’s also a variety of great restaurants which offers traditional food and modern food. We have a variety of nature reserves and game reserves that they can visit.

It’s a very clean place but can very noisy on weekdays. I love the fact that you literally can find anything that you want. All the shops that you need are close, including public service departments. There’s a lot a of crime though, so you need to be vigilant at all times.

Pretoria is a multicultural city. Despite its reputation of being the home of Afrikaans, there is the classic proudly south African diversity found in Pretoria. There’s a mix of English, Northern Sotho and Tswana just to name a few. These other languages actually outnumber the number of Afrikaans speakers and shows that Pretoria is actually more diverse than most people think.
