Placerville, CA is halfway between Sacramento and Lake Tahoe on highway 50. The city can trace is heritage back to the 1800’s during the 49er gold rush. The original name of the town was Hangtown, in which at least two men were hung for allegedly stealing horses. There is a mannequin complete with a noose around its neck hung from a historic building on the main street of the town. The town is rich with history and to this day gold is found anytime a construction project digs up the roadway or a business is renovated.
