Petionville lies at the foothills of a mountain range which surrounds the Bay of Port-Au-Prince. As little as 20 years ago, my hometown was mostly a pedestrian city with little cars and many vacation homes. Today, we find ourselves in intense traffic and occasional dangerous situations especially for solo female travelers. Despite my deep attachment to my city, I wouldn’t recommend you move here.

Even though my city is the best in the country, it is not comparable to the majority of the world’s capitals. Since the major earthquake of 2010, Pétion-Ville is the most important city of Haiti. All major businesses have been relocated here. Because of the relocation of all headquarters, both public and private, we have registered an extraordinary demographic rise.
