The Palmdale Amphitheater hosts big-name musical acts. At this outdoor venue you can watch concerts under the desert sky in the summer months, and it’s touted as the best place for live music in the Antelope Valley. Since 2005, the likes of The Four Tops, The Blue Oyster Cult, Styx and The Temptations have all played here. You’re invited to bring a blanket and get food from the vendors that represent local restaurants. Throughout the month of August there are also weekly family movie nights, where films like Despicable Me, Harry Potter and Finding Nemo are screened.

Palmdale has a branch of the Mulligan Family Fun Center where young kids and teenagers can spend hours diving into all sorts of activities. All in one attraction are found video arcades, batting cages, laser tag, mini-golf and a rock-climbing wall. A new amusement for smaller children is the Mulligan Ropes Course, a three-storey high safe play area with challenging obstacles like rope bridges.

Living in the high desert, a person must become accustomed to extreme weather. While it can become very hot and dry in summer, it can be very cold and windy in winter. Most people don’t realize that in the desert it can get down below freezing overnight.

The city has a US Air Force testing centre where aircraft like the legendary Lockheed Blackbird took their first flights. Having a big corporation such as Lockheed Martin being in Palmdale has given the community’s schools an opportunity to work side-by-side as part-time/full-time internships and giving a higher percentage of employment for the local area. In Palmdale, the summers are hot, arid, and clear.

Palmdale’s DryTown Water Park is open from May to September. This is a fun option for kids, especially when the mercury rises in mid-summer. Cool off at this attraction with water slides for big kids and grownups, while toddlers can make a splash at the Little Miner’s Camp fun zone with shallow pools, amusements and smaller rides. The main attraction for older visitors is Dusty’s Mineshaft Racer, with twin flumes that let you race side-by-side against a rival on specially-made mats. Accompanying the park’s pools and slides is a juice bar and branch of the fast food chain.

Palmdale is a city North of Los Angeles, in California. Palmdale is a small city surrounded by a vast arid landscape that evokes the golden age of western movies. There is the Trails line Ritter Ranch Park, which sprawls over thousands of acres of rugged mountain and desert terrain. North of the city, trails wind through the Prime Desert Woodland Preserve, home to jackrabbits and rich birdlife. Palmdale is where the Joe Davies Heritage Airpark features military planes used by the U.S. Air Force.

Someone should know Palmdale, California, is a great community to raise a family and enjoy desert and mountain views. If you’re the outdoorsy type, there is a poppy reserve to visit and lakes and rural scenes in the neighboring Leona Valley. There is an aqueduct to walk, run or ride along side and take in a panoramic view of the Antelope valley. You will also be close to the Sequoia forest.
