Anyone moving to Paignton would need to know that it is, first and foremost, a retirement community. It is also a Brexit area, which is to say that the inhabitants are politically conservative and Conservative also. The general level of education may be guessed from the absence of bookshops. While Totnes, up the road, boasts 7 bookshops with a population of 28,000 souls, Paignton, with over 70,000, does not have even one.
There are many hills in Paignton, leading to a glorious seaside front with plenty of activities for all the family. If the beach is not for you, a short drive away from town you will find Paignton Zoo, renowned for its variety of animals ranging from elephants to crocodiles, and much more.
