The crime rate of the town has been at an all-time low and continues to diminish every year. The sense of safety helps many seek out adventure and fun through nature and with event gatherings. The peacefulness is sometimes replaced a few times a year with great festivals and amazing carnivals that bring the whole town together for fun. Despite the limited number of businesses and people, there is never a lack of excitement. It can come in the form of teenagers socializing by the town’s grand river or adults participating in a wine and dine festival accompanied by jazz music.

Although Ottawa, Illinois doesn’t have a lot of stores or restaurants, it has created an impact on the people that reside there to flourish. Despite the low number of minorities in the town, there is a Latino community. Because it is such a small town, we can hold friendships are tighter and longer than in a city or urban setting. As a whole, the people are loyal to one another and help bring out the family within all.
