If you’re planning on moving to Ocala Florida, you will need PLENTY of sunscreen. Florida is HOT (It’s called the “Sunshine State for a reason). You’ll need a comfortable pair of walking shoes as there are plenty of parks, nature trails, and historical places to explore.

It is not urban but not rural, it’s right in the middle. Close to Tampa, Orlando and Gainesville. When it storms we rarely evacuate.

Anyone considering moving to Ocala needs to know that it is a small city. Ocala still has much of the old buildings in the Historic District. The city prides itself on this. Ocala has many community events that bring the people together. During the holidays, Ocala has an event called Light Up Ocala. This event rings in the holiday season with a massive tree lighting ceremony.

Ocala is a small town, so a person who knows everyone. There are a lot of activities if you have a car. Near the center of town which is the square is where you will find a bunch of stores and restaurants that might be priced high. But you can get a taste of different shops for a great dining experience.

Ocala is the Horse Capital of the world, so there are lots of cool horse statues around Ocala. There are also a few very pretty parks throughout the town, such as Sholom Park and a state park. With these parks there are also opportunities to interact with wildlife. There has also been more recent constructions to improve the look and tourism of Ocala.

Ocala is a beautiful city in central Florida known for its horse ranches and famous race horses entered in the Kentucky Derby. We moved to this city from Naples, Florida, due to the cost of living less expensively in Ocala. Since it is centrally located, we are one hour from the Atlantic Coast and one hour from the Gulf of Mexico.

Someone moving to Ocala, Florida should know my city is not as fast-paced as most cities. Ocala is laid-back, full of friendly people and family-oriented. There are plenty of park to visit and lots of different restaurants to try. All neighborhoods are safe and closely monitored by the police or sheriff’s departments.

Ocala is not only a beautiful city, but it is also the Horse Capital of the World. There are so many safe communities found here, and would be great for raising a family. In addition to this, Ocala is home to the College of Central Florida, making this a great city for any college-aged students looking for affordable education.

Those considering Ocala as their new home should consider the lack of transportation provided by the city. Ocala is not a walkable city and thus private transportation is a must. In order to get from one side of the city to the other the commute time could be a 30-minute drive.
