Oaktown is a very small farming town. There is also an underground coal mine nearby that provides many jobs to the community. This contributes to some dangerous driving conditions due to the heavy equipment that must be transported back and forth from the mine. Make sure to always be mindful when heading our way!

This is an extremely small town. However, despite the size, we do have some local celebrities that have, and in some cases still do, live here. One example is James Polk, the Pulitzer Prize winning investigative journalist. Another is Dan Beery, an Olympic competition rower, who made his home in 2004.
