In Oak Lawn, expect many amenities. Our community is diverse, we have a wonderful police and fire department, and wonderful schools. Travel within the community is easy; public transit on most major streets, dining in the downtown of Oak Lawn, and shop with ease. A town where almost everyone knows each other.

If you were moving to Oak Lawn I suggest packing for all four seasons regardless of what time of year you were to arrive. We have used our air conditioner and our furnace in the same day. It is wonderful to have both, snow and hot summer days though.

While Oak Lawn has some charming facets to the community, it lacks in public transportation. We have only the one train station, and fewer bus stations than I might like. Paired with these unfortunate realities, we have far too many busy streets (many of which are four-lane highways or larger) to allow frequent travel by bicycle. I cannot complain too much, however, as we have plenty of sidewalk to satisfy the pedestrian urge.

In my city we have plenty of things to do, there are always events going on that others would enjoy. And we make new people who are not from the city feel welcomed. if you like cars, there are always car meets going on to hang out with others who have the same interest.
