Someone considering moving to Nicosia should know the differences in living expenses from other cities or countries. If compared to other cities in Cyprus, Nicosia is relatively expensive when it comes to accommodation. In the case of other big cities in different countries such as the United States of America and the United Kingdom, the city of Nicosia is comparatively much cheaper. In the end, one has to make an informed decision on moving to Nicosia based on their budget and what they can afford.

As one of the last divided cities in the world, Nicosia is a place full of rich history. Nicosia is a city characterized by two religions, two dominant languages plus English, two varying cultures of two neighbouring countries Greece and Turkey. Nicosia has a lot of old types of buildings preserved from the past.

Nicosia is an extremely quiet and relatively crime-free city. If someone were to consider moving here I would advise them to enjoy the peace and comfort. My experience in Nicosia has been worthwhile also due to the vast recreational sites such as beaches and hotel resorts. The native people here are so friendly and welcoming which makes it easier to fit into the new environment.

Nicosia is the capital of Cyprus, found in the center of the island and is quite busy. The closest shore is found about 20 minutes from Nicosia. Nicosia is the only capital that is divided (the island has been divided since 1974 after the invasion from Turkey). In summer it gets quite hot, and winters mild. Moving to Nicosia is a good idea.

Nicosia is the last divided city in the world. Following fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, and the subsequent reunification of Germany, Cyprus was left in isolation as having a capital city divided by turrets, barbed wire, and stern looking guards. However, since 2004 it has been possible to cross between the two states with relative ease and perpetual peace talks give hope to many that one day the island will once more be as one.

The city is quite hot. In addition to this, there are many shopping malls. Most of them have famous clothe stores. Cars here are extremely affordable and so are motorcycles, if you are interested. The city has breathtaking beaches and even beautiful harbors. People here are friendly and that would make your experience living in Nicosia amazing. If you are a coffee lover, you should take the next flight here because the coffee is out of this world. There is a lot more I would say, but I would like to conclude by saying that it is on an island so most of the food eaten here is fresh and the seafood is one of the best I have had.

Nicosia is one of the few, if not the only, divided cities in the world, with a “green line” running through it. It was divided in 1974 after a brief war between Cyprus and Turkey. It is an ancient city, with antiquity sites dotted all over, and an impressive archaeological museum.
