Although Needham is near Boston, it has a small-town feel to it. Even the fairly busy streets and neighborhoods are relatively quiet. There is plenty of shopping in Needham, and larger stores (Costco and Home Depot, for example) are not too far away. I recommend the town for families or older, more sedentary, people. Younger people and students might not like living here; there is not a lot to do; the population tends to be older or married; and the place, more of less, shuts down after 9:00 PM.

Needham is a suburb that is approximately twelve miles west of Boston. It is bedroom community that is home to many commuters. Needham is known for the excellent quality of the public school system. The high school in particular is rated as one of the top in the state.
