Myakka City is a rural area located 30 miles east of Interstate 75 in Sarasota, Florida. It is an agricultural community, in which most of its residents own large herds of cattle. There are also crops of tomatoes, strawberries and muscadine grapes. In the heart of Myakka City is Damon Dairy farm, consisting of over 300 acres of lush green grass for cows to graze. They also have a farm market where local residents can purchase farm fresh milk and cream, among other dairy products.
