If moving to Melrose, know the west side of town is not a good place to raise your kids. While Melrose is an overwhelmingly safe city, there are neighborhoods on the west side of town that border on downright dangerous. Based on the safety of the streets, the better schools, and the nicer homes the east side of Melrose is the place.

Melrose has ample potential for growth and has a great mix of nature and city aspects to it. It’s proximity to Boston along with access to the commuter rail and orange line systems makes it an excellent place to settle down. This has also led to rising property values so buying a home or renting can be a costly endeavor. It’s easy access to the capital combined with it’s small town feel makes Melrose my ideal location.
