Meadville is a small city in northwest Pennsylvania. At one time it was the tool and die capital of the world, with 100s of tool shops in the surrounding area. This boom in the manufacturing industry began in the late 1800s with the Talon Zipper company. Unfortunately, shortly after the year 2000 the majority of manufacturing work that had been the lifeblood of this region began to be outsourced internationally.

Meadville, Pennsylvania, is a city marked by a great deal of contrast. It seems as though the college there is an entirely different town within the city itself. Students at Allegheny College often find their politics, communication styles, and ways of life challenged by Meadville residents. Still, many students and Meadville residents alike find that they have much to learn from each other and thus have begun to implement many projects which necessitate close communication.
