Living in Maputo, Mozambique:
Tips for Moving and Visiting
five local experts5 comments on “Maputo”
My city is home to the beautiful Costa de Sol beach. The sun’s radiance never leaves the area so one is promised beautiful golden skin. The culture here is incredibly rich and inviting so there shall never be a dull day whilst visiting. There is a unique and riveting aura to my beautiful city which is to die for.
If you consider moving to Maputo, you should know that it is a beautiful city, the house and apartments near the beachfront ar amazing to look at, though you should know that the roads in some parts for the city are a tad bumpy, also the streets are not as clean but I must admit the government is improving on the cleanliness of the entire city.
Be prepared for sudden changes in temperature ranging from 61°F to 81°F. Moreover, foreigners are deemed rich here so be careful when buying items, as they’ll make you pay for something far from what the locals here pay. Or in other words, be careful of being swindled.
If you are considering moving to Maputo, be aware that shops tend to close early, therefore during the night time, there is not a lot of movement, which means that sleeping early is the norm for people in Maputo. Another thing, would be the lack of buses, most people use personal cars as a mean of transportation.
