A friendly, tidy, well-connected town. Railway links to Glasgow and Edinburgh in an hour, and Carlisle is just 20 minutes away. The M74 road offers good transportation options. Lots of people have relocated here and tend to stay. Crime is very low, and the police are very much on top of any minor issues, making it a very safe place. People tend to look out for each other, and there are plenty of clubs, an ice rink, etc., to join. There are a few nice bistros, cafes, bakers, and butchers. There is also a half-decent sized Tesco and a couple of decent enough pubs that are friendly. It is close to Moffat for decent walks, although there are a few local walks too.

Lockerbie is a small town, and this improves its sense of community. There is a secondary school and a primary school, and an ice rink. It is a pleasant place, although there are some areas which are more undesirable than others. This includes the council housing estate which is home to two of the most infamous drug dealers in the region.
