Hockessin was a small farming community in the 80’s, but has more recently grown to be one of the wealthier towns in Delaware. Nevertheless, it retains a village feel with many small businesses that join together for community events, such as annual trick-or-treating and a Fourth of July parade. It is part of the Red Clay School District, which gives residents access to an excellent Charter High School ranked the highest in the state.
