Climate and the Travel Industry
The town is overwhelmingly a traveler destination for fishers and 4×4 enthusiasts. Its property market has expanded considerably since the late 1990s, especially for upmarket holiday accommodation.

Henties Bay is located in the National West Coast Recreation Area, but there are few limitations, especially for driving off-road on the oceanfront and across the fields. This draws tourists into the area but puts pressure on the delicate climate. Specifically in peril are the lichen fields, which require years to recover from tracks cut through them, and the Damara tern, which is endemic to the Skeleton Coast and threatened by habitat loss, among other multimillion-dollar challenges.

An individual or couple moving to Henties Bay for employment opportunities, should not be afraid of hard work, dedication, and competition, because it is not for the faint-hearted. You should possess excellent entrepreneurial skills if you want to survive, but in retrospect, Henties Bay is also the “retirement-village” of Namibia.
