Haddam Neck is a unique section of the town of Haddam; it is geographically separated from Haddam by the Connecticut River. The river must be crossed via bridge either to the northwest in the town of Portland or to the southeast in the town of East Haddam. Residents must therefore drive out of town and across the river to access municipal sites and services such as schools, town offices, and the transfer station. Emergency services are furnished by the nearest neighboring municipality, which is the town of East Hampton.
