The Great Flood of 2016 was an anomaly, but Greenwell Springs was in its path, so you must have flood insurance, regardless of whether or not you believe you will need it. Greenwell Springs is a suburb of East Baton Rouge, though part of Central City, which became its own city separate from EBR around 2006. Both the city and the suburb help compose East Baton Rouge parish (what every other state except Louisiana calls ‘counties’).

Greenwell Springs, Louisiana, is just a few miles south of central Louisiana. The city is approximately 20 minutes from the city of Zachary, which has a prosperous and growing community. Greenwell Springs itself, however, is a rural community, with many sprawling farms. The Greenwell Springs community keeps mostly to itself, but many of the neighbors are kind and helpful, even to those they are not familiar with.
